The undergraduate academic study program in ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT lasts four years, i.e., eight semesters. The program carries 240 ECTS credits (60 ECTS x 4 years). The study program is designed based on elective criteria as follows:
29 mandatory courses
Mandatory English language throughout the entire duration of studies
9 elective courses chosen from 23 offered courses
Internship / Practical training
Research work
Bachelor's thesis / Final thesis
The courses are categorized into academic-general education, theoretical-methodological, scientific-professional, and professional-applied courses in accordance with the required standard proportion (17.92%, 20.42%, 35%, and 26.67%).
The program aims to train students for independent work in various roles, both within traditional manufacturing industries as well as in creative industries and the security sector. The objective of the study program is to master engineering skills and methods applied in specific management processes, such as planning, project management, organization, and control. In addition, the curriculum is designed to encourage students to think critically, acquire skills for objective and evidence-based observation, interpretation of phenomena, and data analysis and synthesis. Students' independent critical thinking will lay the foundation for their further professional development. The program aims to enable students to pursue education at a higher academic level — master's degree studies. The outcome of the learning process is an educated student possessing engineering knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage production processes in traditional manufacturing and service enterprises, creative industries, and security operations. Upon completion of the study program, students earn the academic title of Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management (diplomirani inženjer menadžmenta).
During their studies, students will acquire skills and develop abilities in companies with which the institution has signed cooperation agreements. They will become familiar with concrete practical problems and learn to apply specific scientific methods and procedures in solving engineering management challenges. Furthermore, they will be able to obtain valuable data on topics they can address in their final thesis.
Teaching in the ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT study program is interactive, strictly incorporates practical examples, and encourages student reflection, creativity, independence, and the practical application of acquired knowledge. The implementation of the study program also takes place through mentoring work. Students directly collaborate with course professors, practically test acquired knowledge in specialized computer labs, and have the opportunity to demonstrate individual and team creativity, as well as develop critical thinking and communication skills. The quality of the teaching process is ensured through the application of the following instructional and methodological formats:
Lectures,
Practical and laboratory exercises,
Preparation and presentation of term papers and other professional projects,
Discussions between students and teaching staff with an emphasis on the exchange of views,
Application of modern case study analysis methods,
Training students to work on a project basis as well as in teams,
Conducting professional internships.
Each course carries a specific number of ECTS credits in accordance with the unified methodology for calculating student workload. Additionally, each course carries 100 points, of which students can earn a minimum of 30% through pre-examination activities. Grading aligns with the standard system (up to 51 points = 5/failed, 51–60 points = 6, etc.).
The study program in Engineering Management is intended for students interested in studying the theoretical and practical aspects of the functioning of business systems and their management.
The goal of the study program is to provide modern knowledge on managing business systems based on engineering principles. These principles can be applied to various industries, not just traditional manufacturing industries, but also creative industries and the security sector, for example. Engineering principles entail the application of specific mathematical methods and models, general systems theory, and similar concepts. Engineering management processes within a business system primarily relate to operations where value is created through the transformation of inputs into outputs. Therefore, the study program is oriented toward knowledge in the fields of goods production, service creation, technology, and logistics.
The objective of the program is to equip students to know, understand, and possess the capabilities and skills to manage both product/process technologies and information technologies. Special attention is dedicated to knowledge in the field of information and communication technologies applied in business systems as the backbone of future business operations.
In addition to the above, the study program aims to offer students specific technical knowledge in higher study years necessary for managing high-tech, security, or culturally and artistically oriented enterprises or institutions. In this way, a connection with postgraduate/master's studies is established, where students can specialize in management within one of these sectors.
A specific goal of the study program is to prepare students to understand the management processes through which a company's development goals are achieved. In this sense, the program provides knowledge about innovation, innovation processes, design, and project management. This knowledge enables students to continue their education in the Master's degree program at the Faculty of Engineering Management, titled Project Management and Industry 4.0.
One of the program's objectives is to equip students with computer literacy alongside foreign language skills to facilitate easier communication. The program opens doors for students who wish to pursue an international career abroad.
An exceptionally important goal of the study program is to equip students for teamwork through the use of specific teaching methods.
A student who completes the ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT study program (240 ECTS) is qualified for engineering management positions, meaning they will know how to manage various processes using engineering methods. They will possess creative problem-solving and decision-making skills in the field of enterprise management within both manufacturing and service industries. They will gain knowledge in engineering, technological processes, information and communication technologies (particularly mobile communications and e-business), operations management, strategic management, knowledge management, customer relationship management (CRM), database design, decision support systems, intelligent systems design, risk management, creative industry management, and security company management, among others.
Graduates with this educational background can continue their education at this higher education institution through master's degree studies. The program is aligned with master's and doctoral degree programs. Students can further refine their knowledge and skills in project management and Industry 4.0, as well as in security systems engineering and waste management.
The essence of this study program is the development of engineering personnel capable of managing business processes through a holistic approach.
By mastering the scientific-professional, professional-applied, academic-general education, and theoretical-methodological courses within this study program, graduates will acquire both general and subject-specific competencies.
