The School of Engineering Management is pleased to announce that Shehab Mohammad Shehab Ahmad Thani has successfully defended his doctoral dissertation titled "The Role of Young Generations in Shaping Future Security through Foresight and Innovation."
The doctoral dissertation addresses one of the most significant contemporary issues in the field of security – the development of cybersecurity awareness in increasingly digitalized and multicultural societies. Focusing on the United Arab Emirates, the research analyzes how digital literacy, password security, internet browser security, and social media behavior influence the level of cybersecurity awareness, with particular emphasis on the role of younger generations as key bearers of digital transformation and future resilience of security systems.
The research represents a significant scientific contribution by introducing digital literacy as an empirically confirmed predictor of cybersecurity awareness, as well as by providing the first comprehensive empirical analysis of this issue in the specific demographic and technological context of the United Arab Emirates. The obtained results have significant practical value for educational institutions, public policy makers, and cybersecurity experts, providing a basis for creating more effective awareness-raising programs, improving educational content, and developing organizational security strategies.
The dissertation simultaneously points to the growing importance of integrating foresight of future trends, innovation, and behavioral approaches into contemporary security studies, confirming that the development of digital competencies among younger generations represents one of the key preconditions for building resilient and secure societies.
