Jubilee of the Belgrade Dance Institute
The Belgrade Dance Institute, as an organizational unit of the School of Engineering Management, celebrated the anniversary of its founding, the first faculty in Serbia in the field of dance, in front of a crowded stage theater Aleksandar Popović, which has positioned itself as the regional best known center for dance for five years.
The students are studying classical ballet, contemporary dance, stage folk and music, pedagogy, choreography and performance.
The founder and dean, Prof. Vladimir Tomašević and Prof. Tony Thatcher of the Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music and Dance in London, reminded attendees what it looked like to set up the Belgrade Dance Institute five years ago, and then handed out plaques to partners who supported the work of the institution.
The plaques were given, among other things, to the Vuk Theater, Milena Buric in front of the Ministry of Culture and Information, Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of Israel in Belgrade Maayan Ben Tura, Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum Adrian Fikes, Ana Zekavica, Director of the Young Talent Foundation, Vesna Surojevic, from Sava Šumanović Gallery Nikoleti Dojčinović in front of Radio Television of Serbia, Neli Antonović and Mimartu, directors of the Lujo Davičo Ballet School, Slobodanka Simić Novčić, Museum of Contemporary Art, Dr. Dejan Sretenović, Student Cultural Center Aleksandra Divić, Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia, Maja Balčetić, and Teodora Sujić.
In 2019, the Belgrade Dance Institute realized eight premieres, including performances, participation in the traditional April Meetings of the Student Cultural Center, in cooperation with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, it is a partner of the Cleaner Marina Abramovic exhibition, performing at festivals in the region (Dance Festival in Šibenik, Velenje Festival, Come On Festival, BELEF), within the 23rd Festival of Choreographic Miniatures, students won almost all awards.
Over 40 performers presented themselves in the ceremonial program Showcase – Choreography by Bahram M. Juldashev, Dagmar Dachauer, Macie Kuzminski, Lorand Zachar, Milan Bachkul, Katarina Ilijašević, Katarina Stojković, as well as performing folk songs and plays from Serbia.
