The book “MITOPOETICS” – Prof. Dr. Miomir Petrović
A new book by Prof. Dr. Miomir Petović “MITOPOETICS” (presence of mythological matrices in the works of Wim Wenders, Christopher Ransmayer, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Francis Bacon in the edition of the Zavod za udžbenike, Belgrade 2019, ISBN 978-86-17-19946-1).
Monograph “Mitopoetics” points to the transformation of the mythological matrix in contemporary artistic works and systematizes the emerging forms of the mythic matrix in them. In the “Mitopoetics”, this is about the transformation of the Titanamachian pattern in drama, film, novel, and artwork: in the drama “Muve” by Jean-Paul Sartre, the film Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire) directed by Wim Wenders, the novel “Morbus Kitihara” by Christoph Ransmayr and the study “Crucifixion ” by the painter Francis Bacon.
Writer, dramatist, art theorist and university professor Miomir Petrovic puts forward that the praxis is continuous in us and tries to prove that the presence of mythology, mythological performances, anthropological symbols, and collective storytelling in a contemporary or classical creative form enables the hypothesis that the mythical pattern is present in an explicit, substitute, or implicit manner in almost all artistic works. In this monograph, it is about Titanomachia, that is, an ancient interpretation of the victory of younger gods over the elderly, a son over a father, which is, as a pattern in the foundations of the ancient myth, a Christian parable, a set of pagan traditions, and a dystopian, anti-Christian tradition.
