We present courses in doctoral studies: Modeling of waste storage systems

The aim of the course is to develop a systematic and critical consideration of the student in relation to the problem of waste generation, forms and phases in its management and especially with the requirements for its temporary disposal as well as models and techniques of final storage systems.

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to competently analyze the requirements for modeling waste storage systems as well as to identify strategic problems in the process of translating the principles and knowledge in this area into waste management practice at all levels.

Course content: The concept of waste. Overview of the situation in individual sectors (industries). Legal frameworks at local, national, regional and international levels. Waste management. Types of waste. Waste generation. Evaluation of waste management options (waste minimization “3R”, storage, waste treatment – physical, chemical, biological, disposal). Models and techniques of waste storage systems. Dynamic modeling of waste storage systems. Modeling of temporary waste disposal. Modeling of permanent waste disposal. The concept of “zero landfill” and sustainable development.
