Prof. Dr. Milan Radovanovic, participates in a Bible translation project
Prof. dr. Milan Radovanovic, PhD, professor of Aesthetics and Theory of Art at the School of Engineering Management, or the Institute of Artistic Games, was invited by the Bible Institute of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade to join an expert team of our leading classical philologists, Hellenists, theologians, paleographers and and to participate in the project of translating the Bible from the original Biblical languages - Ancient Hebrew and Ancient Greek, in consultation with very accurate Old Church translations.
The translations of Djuro Danicic and Vuk Karadzic so far have been made from Latin, German and Church Slavonic templates. With this project, for the first time in our history, we receive an integral translation of the Scriptures of the Old Testament into Serbian. Recent translations of the Bible into foreign languages have been largely derived from the Masoretic text, and Septuagint, as Tanah’s oldest translation into ancient Greek and the oldest preserved manuscript of the Scriptures of the Old Testament, is now attracting particular attention from scholars and philologists around the world. The idea is that the expert team will continue to work on the new critical edition of Septuagint, making the project of great international importance.
